Description
Number 23 High Street, with Number 1 The Square, is a warehouse that has been converted into a shop with a dwelling above. It dates from the early 19th century and features Flemish brickwork with stone corner pilasters. The building is four stories high, with one bay facing High Street and three bays returning to Market Square. The High Street facade has a 20th-century shop front, wide stone lintels, a bracketed canopy, and 20th-century replacement two-pane sash windows above. The eaves are adorned with paired modillion brackets. The return elevation includes plat bands and gauged brick arches above the windows, along with a moulded trade panel on the corner.
