Description
No. 16 High Street is a house that has been converted into offices, dating from the 17th century. The building is rendered with a false ashlar finish and features a tiled roof. It is two stories tall with an attic and consists of three bays, with two rooms deep and a rear extension on the left side leading to a rear gable.
The ground floor has a 20th-century shop window with a central entrance. On the first floor, there are 16-pane sash windows with moulded architraves, although one window has been replaced. The end bays have twin gables with 9-pane sashes, and the right gable has a stone point finial. Iron S-ties are also present.
The date "GH 1631 GH" is found on the rainwater heads, which was reproduced from a stone discovered on the site during renovations in the mid-20th century. Inside, the building features ovolo-moulded beams at the ends and between the divisions of the bays in both the front and original back rooms.
