Description
The former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel is an early 19th-century building located on Garrison Lane in Hugh Town. It is constructed of coursed granite rubble with ashlar on two of its facades and features a hipped asbestos roof. The chapel is two storeys high and consists of two sets of two bays. The front has semi-circular arches above two ground-floor and three first-floor sash windows with glazing bars, along with boarded replacement doors that have a blank fanlight. The side elevation mirrors this style with four 6-pane casement windows. The rear elevation includes 18 and 12-pane sashes set within two semi-circular arched "preaching windows." Inside, the chapel has a U-plan layout with panelled first-floor galleries supported by cast-iron Tuscan columns. There are angle staircases featuring swept handrails, turned newels, and stick balusters.
