Description
Vine House is a detached house located at right angles to the road in Nether Compton Village. It dates from the late 17th century, with a mid-19th century addition at the east end. The house features rubble-stone walls and clay tile roofs, with stone slates at the eaves. There are brick stacks at both the left and right gables. The building is two storeys high, with three windows on the original part and two windows on the 19th century addition. The windows are mainly 19th and 20th century renewed wood casements with glazing bars, wood cills, and lintels, consisting mostly of three lights, and two lights to the right of the front door. Two gabled dormers have clay-tile roofs and 2-light wood casements with glazing bars. The front door, located at the original centre, is panelled and features an integral fanlight from the 20th century. There is a wood canopy on brackets above the door, also from the 20th century.
