Description
Cross Cottage is a detached house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a stone slate roof, with stone end stacks that have an offset and moulded cornice on the right and a renewed flue on the left. The building consists of a single front range and a rear wing to the right, along with a single-storey lean-to at the rear that has a slate roof.
The house stands two storeys high with an attic. On the first floor, there are three windows featuring 2-light stone mullions with wooden casements. The roof has three gabled dormers set high, with glazed gables and single 9-pane lights on the left and right, and paired casements in the centre. The ground floor includes three 3-light stone mullions with square hoodmoulds, flanking a central wide porch that has a coped gable and a saddlestone topped with a simple cross finial, as well as a chamfered stone archway. The inner door is from the 20th century.
