Detached house. Early C18. Rendered or painted rubble, some cob, thatch roof. A symmetrical 3-bay cottage, extended by 2 bays at the W end, possibly incorporating an earlier store or farm building; the building is set gable-end towards the stream and lane. 2 storeys, small 2-light wood casements with horizontal glazing bar and wood sills; in the 2 bays to the left the ground floor formerly had a wide opening, now with 2 casements. Centred to the right half is a 6-panel door under a thatched gabled porch. Rendered gable stacks to the original dwelling unit. The gable to the left has a single light above 2-light casement, and the back has a continuous added lean-to. INTERIOR: has low ceiling heights, and a large open bressumer fire with bread oven, and a curing chamber, in the right gable. Heavy collar roof with single purlin and exposed principals. The name is taken from the medieval bridge (qv) immediately to the W.
