Description
No. 20 Bothenwood is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century. It features timber framed walls with mainly brick infilling and has a hipped thatched roof with a brick stack at the rear. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of one storey and an attic. The left section of the front wall is weatherboarded. A ledged door is set in a pentice porch with a tiled roof. The ground floor has three casement windows with glazing bars, while the attic includes a double dormer with two casements that have a central horizontal bar. There is also one window with a central horizontal bar in the weatherboarded section. Inside, the timber frame, including the roof structure, remains largely intact, and there is a large open fireplace located at the angle of the two wings, although it has been largely reconstructed.
