Description

The house at Bothenwood is a detached dwelling, believed to originate from 1607, although it has undergone significant alterations since then. The structure is a timber-frame building with square panels, some of which have been refaced using brick and brick infill. It has a thatched roof, hipped on the right side, with brick stacks positioned along the ridge on the left and at the right end. The house is two storeys high and has an irregular arrangement of windows. These windows are predominantly one and two-light casements, some featuring leaded lights. A central glazed door was added in the 20th century. Internal features include an original staircase with a close string and turned balusters. The house is notably larger than typical 17th-century dwellings in the area.
