Description

Hill Cottage is an 18th-century roadside cottage, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of rubble stone walls, which are roughcast and painted. The roof is thatched and hipped, with a 20th-century brick stack positioned centrally. The cottage originally had two windows, with a further window added to the left. It features 2- and 3-light wood casement windows with glazing-bars, and wooden sills. A 20th-century door is located to the left of the centre and has a glazed upper half. Inside, a mid-chamfered longitudinal ceiling beam with tongued stops is visible. The open fireplace has a straight chamfered hood lintel and plastered stone jambs, with a dog-leg stair positioned immediately behind the fireplace.
