Description

Studleigh Cottage is an 18th-century cottage, altered in the 20th century. The walls are constructed of rendered and painted cob and coursed rubble, with a thatched roof and brick end and ridge stacks. The cottage has a two-unit plan and is one storey high with an attic, featuring a two-window range. A 20th-century door is located on the right side, above a wooden lintel. There is a central two-light leaded casement window and a smaller four-pane window to the left, both with wooden lintels. A large three-light casement window sits within an eyebrow dormer in the attic. A single-storey stone extension is located to the right, partially thatched and partially with plain tiles. The rear and left-gable end walls are visible as coursed ironstone rubble and are unpainted. Inside, the cottage features a chamfered spine beam and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
