Description
The windmill located at NGR SY 69077128 is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the 17th century. It is built of rough coursed rubble and is currently roofless. The cylindrical shaft is slightly tapered, measuring approximately 4 meters in diameter and 7 meters in height. There are various openings at three levels, most featuring flush single stone quoins, lintels, and weathered cills for small upright rectangular lights. A blocked door is present on the southeast side, while a door opening on the northeast side has a slight basket-arch head. Inside, there is an inserted concrete floor slab on corrugated shuttering, which probably dates from World War Two. This windmill is one of only two remaining disused windmills on the island and is depicted on the Hutchins map of 1710.
