Description

The Old Windmill is a Grade II listed structure located on Rectory Lane in Instow. It is possibly from the 17th century and is constructed of finely dressed stone rubble. The windmill is roofless and circular in shape, with walls that have been reduced in height to approximately 4 meters. The walls feature putlog holes at spaced intervals, and large openings provide a commanding view of the estuary, suggesting that the windmill may have served as a navigational aid.
