Description
The windmill located at NGR SY 69087138 is a disused structure, likely dating from the 17th century. It is built from rough coursed rubble and is currently roofless. The windmill features a plain cylindrical shaft with flush dressed coping, measuring approximately 4 meters in diameter and 5.5 meters in height. At the top, there are small openings with dressed jambs, and a former deep opening to the west that is now blocked flush. To the north and south, there are plain square undressed openings that once served as doors. The walls are about 650 millimeters thick. Inside, there are various putlog holes located approximately 3.2 meters above the ground, along with several dressed slots. This windmill is one of only two remaining mills on the island, and it may be older than the other mill situated about 135 meters to the southeast. It is depicted on the Hutchins map of 1710.
