Description

Vine Cottage is a single cottage dating from the 18th century, located on Sea Hill Lane in Chideock. It features lias rubble walls that are roughly coursed, with large stone quoins. The roof has a slate covering on the left-hand bay and thatch on the remaining sections, with gable ends. There are three brick stacks: one at the far left gable, one on the inner thatch left gable, and one at the right gable end. The cottage is two storeys high and has four windows, which are two-light wooden casements with glazing bars and wooden cills. The front door, located in the south gable wall, is a 20th-century wooden door with eight glass panels, and it is sheltered by a hipped thatch porch canopy supported by two wooden posts. Attached to the cottage are stone rubble walls extending seven yards to the north and ten yards to the south, creating a continuous stone frontage along the lane.
