Description

The Old Farmhouse is a detached house that was formerly a farmhouse, likely dating from the early 18th century. It may have originally been an end-chimney long-house with a byre at the left end. The original section features plastered cob walls, a hipped thatched roof, and a brick stack at the right end. The house is one storey with an attic and includes a lean-to porch with a thatched catslide roof; the door has been replaced by a casement window. The front wall is buttressed, and there is a 20th-century part glazed door. The ground floor has three casements with glazing bars, while the attic contains two dormers with casements that have a centre horizontal bar.

At the right end, there is a later addition, probably from the 19th century, which is two storeys high with plastered walls and a slate roof. This addition includes a brick porch with a gabled tiled roof; the door has also been replaced by a casement with glazing bars. The ground floor features one casement with glazing bars, and the first floor has one top-hung window. To the right of this addition is a lean-to with plastered walls and a slate roof, which has a part glazed door and one casement with glazing bars. At the left end, there is another lean-to with a thatched catslide roof and one plain casement. Inside the original house, there is a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and an inserted bread oven, and the original roof structure is still intact.
