Description
Romford Mill and Millhouse is a mill and attached millhouse, likely built in the early 19th century. It features English bond brickwork and slate roofs, with the mill having a half-hipped design. The building has two storeys and an attic, with brick stacks located in various positions. The mill includes two-light timber casements set beneath segmental brick heads, along with a plank stable door on the left side and additional plank doors on each floor of the gable wall. The house has four-pane sash windows, with those on the ground floor also under segmental brick heads, and a part-glazed door located in the re-entrant angle. There has been some 20th-century refenestration at the rear.
Inside, much of the original mill machinery remains intact, including the remnants of a breast-shot waterwheel, hursting, gearing, mill stones, and hoists.
