Description
Stratton Mill is a mill-house and attached mill dating from the early 19th century. It features rubble-stone walls with brick dressings around the windows and quoins. The building has a slate roof with gable ends and brick stacks at both gables. It stands two storeys high with attics and has three windows, which are renewed two-light wooden casements with glazing bars and wooden cills. The windows are framed with brick dressings and segmental brick arches. There are two dormers on the right side, each with two-light casements that also have glazing bars. To the left of the centre, there is a porch that is weatherboarded and has a moulded cornice, with two-leaf wooden doors featuring recessed panels from the 20th century.
The attached mill to the south is built in the same style and materials but has an asbestos slate roof with a gable end on the right side. This mill also has two storeys and three windows, which are 20th-century metal casements inserted into 19th-century openings. There is a plank door on the left side at ground level, topped with a segmental brick arch. Inside, extensive machinery survives, although access was not obtained during the survey of water mills.
