Description
Manor Cottage, formerly known as The Old Manor, is a manor house dating from the mid-to-late 17th century, which has been divided into two properties and extended. It includes a 20th-century extension to the north. The building is constructed of banded flint and dressed stone with clay-tile roofing and stone eaves slabs, featuring gable ends. Brick stacks are located at the left-hand gable, the centre ridge, and the right-hand gable. There are a total of seven windows (five in The Old Manor and two in Manor Cottage). The windows have 2-light hollow-chamfered stone mullions in moulded frames, with a 3-light design to one bay. The window frames contain iron casements with lead lights. The front door, originally positioned at the centre, features moulded stone jambs, stepped stops, and a depressed-arch head within a square frame. A 20th-century plank-and-muntin door with long strap hinges is present. The mullions on the Manor Cottage front are ovolo-moulded, with returned labels at ground floor. The Manor Cottage front door has moulded jambs and a 6-panel door with three top lights, also from the 20th century. A wing projecting at right angles to the east was constructed in the 20th century using traditional materials and features 3-light mullions. The interior was not inspected. A projecting wing at right angles to the east, built in the 20th century, employs traditional materials and 3-light mullions.
