Description
Marvell Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse built in the late 18th century. It features coursed stone walls with ashlar quoins and a slate roof with gable ends. The building has two storeys and dormers, with five windows that have square stone mullions, beaded with stone architraves, arranged in alternating two and three lights. The windows are fitted with 20th-century metal casements and lead lights. There are two gabled dormers with iron casements from the 19th century. The central doorway has a stone architrave and a plank door, also from the 19th century. At the rear, there is a continuous outshut with a catslide slate roof, featuring 2- and 3-light wood casements and a 19th-century plank door to the left of centre.
Inside, the former lobby entrance has been opened out. The left-hand room contains an open fireplace with stone jambs and a cambered wood lintel that has tongued stops. The ceiling beams in this room have a mid-chamfer and tongued stops. There is a boxed-in stair behind the former lobby entrance, and a secondary stair position is located in the right-hand end room.
