Description

Harvard Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating to the late 18th century, with 19th-century extensions added at each end. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone walls with ashlar quoins. It has a thatched roof with stone gable-copings and moulded kneelers, and the brick stacks were renewed in the 20th century. The original house comprises a front range and a short rear wing, with a former wash-house, now an outshut, situated in the angle and covered by a slate roof. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics, with three windows on the front elevation. These windows are wooden casements containing horizontal glazing-bars, wooden sills, and lintels, with a central window of three lights and a two-light window above. A 19th-century front door, with flush panels and two top lights, is centrally positioned. The original rear wing is constructed of matching materials and has two storeys and one window. An early 20th-century brick stack is present on the rear gable. Outhouses are located on the north and south gable ends, built with rubble stone walls and slate roofs, with one hipped. A 19th-century plank door on the south gable end provides access.
