Description

Liberty Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with an 18th-century service range added to the northeast, which was refenestrated in the 19th century. There is also a 19th-century outhouse at the west end. The building features rubble-stone walls with dressed stone quoins and a thatch roof that is both half-hipped and hipped. The chimney stacks include a stone stack with a brick cap at the east end of the ridge, a stone stack with a moulded cornice from the 18th century at the center ridge, and a brick stack at the west end of the ridge. The farmhouse is 1.5 storeys high and has five windows with irregular fenestration, including two 4-light ovolo-moulded stone mullions on the south side and wood-framed iron casements with lead lights.

On the north elevation, there is a plank door from the 18th century to the left of center leading into a former cross-passage, and a 20th-century plank door towards the right end leading into the outhouse. The service range has brick-dressed windows with 2-light wood casements. Inside, the room to the left of the cross-passage features an open fireplace with a cambered wood lintel, and the staircase is positioned immediately to the left of the fireplace, consisting of a half-spiral wooden stair with a doorcase. The ceiling beam is slightly chamfered, and there is 18th-century fielded-panel cupboard built into the alcove across the corner of the room.
