Description
Higher Holt Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, with attached farm buildings positioned at right angles. The structure features rendered stone walls and half-hipped thatch roofs, with a central brick stack on the west ridge. It stands two storeys tall with attics. The south elevation has two windows, which are three-light cast-iron casements with glazing bars from the 19th century. The front door, located at the centre, is a plank door with one top light, dating from the 20th century. There is also a porch with a gabled slate roof, added in the 20th century. The return elevation has two-light casements.
Attached to the farmhouse are stables and a barn, which are in one range down the slope. These buildings have rubble-stone walls and thatch roofs, and they are also two storeys high. The openings include two plank doors to the stabling, with one loft door above, and a stable-door entrance to the barn. The barn has two loft doors, and its east side features a projecting porch with a hipped slate roof and two-leaf plank doors.
