Description
Lower Holt Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 18th century, with a 19th-century extension that connects to an earlier structure at the east end. The building features rubble-stone walls, a thatched roof on the original farmhouse, a slate roof on the 19th-century range, and corrugated asbestos further east. There are 20th-century brick stacks on the south and east gables. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a gable end and three windows on the south elevation. The 18th-century section includes a sash window and a 2-light casement above. The 19th-century range has cast-iron casements with glazing bars, wood cills, and dressed stone voussoirs, with three-light windows on the ground floor and two-light windows above. A flush-panelled doorway with a wood frame, dating from the 19th century, is located to the left of centre. The north elevation features similar cast-iron casements, including a canted bay window on the right gable end from the late 19th century, and a plank door, left of centre, from the 20th century.
