Upper Sydling Farmhouse

Upper Sydling Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with a rear wing added in the 19th century and re-roofing also from that period. The building features a coursed stone plinth, with walls made of flint and brick that are banded at the ground floor, and brick walls in stretcher bond on the first floor. It has a 19th-century slate roof with gable ends and boxed eaves, as well as late 19th-century brick stacks at the gable ends.

The farmhouse is two storeys tall and includes dormers. It has four windows in total, with three on the main front and one on the service end to the south. The windows are tripartite sashes with glazing bars, moulded flush wood frames, wood cills, segmental brick arches that are not gauged, and projecting keystones. Above the front doorway, there is a single sash window. The three dormers have wood casements with glazing bars. The central front doorway features a cambered brick arch with a keystone and a six flush-panel door from the 19th century, topped with a rectangular light.

On the service end, there are 3-light wood casements with similar arches above. The rear service range to the west, built in the mid-19th century, is made of brick and slate and includes a three-light iron casement with lead lights. There is a panelled side door with top lights, also from the 19th century. The farmhouse has attached rear stores with plank doors and front sleeper walls made of brick, topped with stone copings. Iron railings with urn finials and a matching iron gate are located at the centre of the front.
