Description
No. 6 Waterside Lane is a detached cottage dating from the mid-17th century, which underwent internal alterations and repairs in 1985. The exterior features close-fitting knapped flint and chalk-block walls, topped with a thatched roof that has gable ends on both sides. There are brick stacks located at the left gable and on the ridge to the right of center. The cottage is 1½ storeys high and has four windows, primarily consisting of 2-light wooden casements with glazing bars, wooden cills, and lintels. There are two eyebrow dormers; the left dormer contains 2-light 20th-century metal casements, while the right dormer features a 3-light wooden casement from the 18th century with glazing bars. The front door, positioned to the right of center, has stone jambs with later brick jambs added to narrow the entrance. It is a flush-panel door with two top lights, dating from the 19th century. Inside, the cottage has mid-chamfered ceiling beams.
