Description
No. 18 Greaves Lane is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone and features a steeply pitched slate roof with a stone ridge. There is a brick gable end stack on the north side. The building has two storeys and two bays, with a gabled street elevation that includes a 20th-century plank door to the east. Above and to the west of the door, there are 20th-century casement windows. On the west elevation, there is a 17th-century recessed and chamfered two-light mullion window to the south, along with two 20th-century windows and a door to the north. Inside, the cottage retains a cruck timber frame embedded in the stone walls, with a stud partition wall. The upper rooms are located in the roof space, and original, thick, wide oak floorboards are preserved upstairs.
