Description
The Candle House is an early 19th-century house located on the east side of Greaves Lane in the parish of Ashford in the Water. It is constructed from coursed, squared limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. The house features a shallow plinth and a stone slate roof, with stone coped gables and a plain kneeler on the north side. There is a stone gable end stack on the south and a brick stack on the north. The eaves have a plain band.
The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance has a flush doorcase topped with a bracketed stone hood, leading to a raised and fielded panelled door. On either side of the door, there are two-light flush mullion windows with plain sashes. Above the door, there are two similar windows with a single light plain sash in a plain surround.
