Description
Clifton House and Brushfield House are a pair of matching houses built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from coursed, squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. Clifton House features a stone slate roof, while Brushfield House has modern concrete tiles. Both houses have plain eaves bands and three stone gable end stacks with plain banding. Each house has two storeys and three bays.
Brushfield House, located to the east, has a central semi-circular headed door with plain jambs and projecting impost blocks that support a bracketed stone hood. It has a 20th-century panelled door with a traceried fanlight above. On either side of the door are glazing bar sashes with flush lintels and projecting sills, and there are three similar windows above. Clifton House is identical in design, except it has a low plank door at the western end of the building. This listing is included for its group value only.
