Description
Thornbury is a mid-19th century house located in Ashford in the Water. It is built from coursed squared gritstone with painted dressings and features a stone slate roof that is hipped to the north. The house has a stone gable end stack on the south side and a stone side wall stack on the north side, along with a stone-coped gable to the south that has a plain kneeler.
The building is two storeys high and has an L-plan layout with a three-bay west facade. The central doorcase includes plain bases, reeded pilasters, moulded imposts, and a semi-circular head, topped with a bracketed stone hood. The door itself is raised and fielded, with a traceried fanlight above. On either side of the door, there are canted bay windows featuring plain sashes on each of their three sides. Above these, there are three plain sashes set in plain surrounds. This building is included in the register for its group value only.
