Description
No. 42 is a detached cottage dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed from dressed limestone and features a thatched roof with gable and axial brick stacks. The cottage has a baffle entry and a three-cell plan, with a single storey and attic, and three windows across the front.
The entrance is a six-panelled door located to the left of the center, sheltered by a thatched porch. To the left of the door is a two-light casement window, while to the right are two three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. In the attic, there is one two-light window in an eyebrow dormer and two three-light casements to the right.
The left side of the cottage has a 20th-century planked door and steel casements, while the right side features a 20th-century door and a three-light casement on the first floor. The rear includes two steel casements, two single-light windows, and one two-light wooden casement. The attic floor has three dormers with single-light, four-light, and two-light casements.
Inside, the cottage has an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel set on stone jambs and features chamfered beams.
