Description
The house dates from the late 17th century, with an addition built around 1800. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with stone quoins, and has a thatched roof with gable end brick stacks. The building is two storeys high and has three windows at the front. The central doorway has four panels and is sheltered by a flat wooden hood supported on brackets; to the right is a fixed segmental-headed window, and either side are four-pane segmental-headed sash windows. A three-brick plat band runs along the first floor, above which are three two-light casement windows. Attached to the left is a circa 1800 addition made of flint and brick, featuring a brick-tiled porch and two-light casement windows, with a tiled roof that slopes to a hip. The right return side of the house has an external brick stack, and a single-storey brick outhouse is attached, with a double Roman tiled roof. The rear elevation has central French windows, flanked by four-pane segmental-headed sash windows, and three two-light casement windows, plus a small 20th-century casement window on the first floor.
Inside, there are chamfered beams with stepped stops. An open fireplace has a chamfered lintel resting on stone jambs in the room to the left of the entrance. 19th-century fittings include four-panelled doors and stick balusters on the staircase, but the original 18th-century wide moulded handrail has been retained, along with window shutters. The roof is a three-bay principal rafter structure with two tiers of threaded purlins and a new ridge piece.
