Description

HALSTOCK ST 50 NE HALSTOCK VILLAGE 2/65 Outbuilding immediately north of Halstock House GV II Detached former farmhouse, now outbuilding for storage. Early C17. Rubble- stone walls with some cob walling and some brick fill. Corrugated iron roof with gable ends. Brick stack at left hand gable. 1 1/2 storeys. 5 windows, irregular fenestration. Ground floor has 2 and 3-light casements and fixed windows. First floor has 3-light wood casements and fixed windows. C20 plank doors, left of centre, on line of former cross-passage. Two doors right of centre to former tack room and stabling. C20 sleeper buttress at centre. Interior: roof-construction, of mid jointed-cruck construction with collars, pegged. Two sets of through-purlins. Interior always ceiled, with straight- chamfered ceiling-beams with run-out stops. Remains of plank-and-muntin partitioning downstairs and upstairs. Remains of flagstones in former cross-passage. Brick flooring to stabling in right hand end. Open fireplace in left hand end: stone jambs and straight-chamfered cambered lintel.
