Description
No. 4 Fore Street is a detached estate cottage dating from the later 19th century. It features dressed stone walls and ashlar stone quoins, topped with a slate roof that has gable ends. A central brick stack with a stone verge is located at the ridge. The cottage is one and a half storeys high and has two windows on the ground floor, which are designed with ovolo-moulded stone mullions and separate labels above. Both windows are two-lights with iron casements that include glazing bars. The first floor has similar windows, which are half-dormers with gabled slate roofs and bargeboards. At the center, there is a flint and ashlar stone porch with a gabled slate roof. The doorway features moulded jambs and a four-centred arch head with continuous bracket moulding, along with a plank door and weatherboard. There are also pentice-roofed outhouses at the rear, which were built in the 19th century.
