Description
Nos. 6 and 8 Fore Street are two semi-detached estate cottages built in the late 19th century. They feature dressed stone walls and ashlar stone quoins, along with a chamfered plinth. The cottages have a slate roof with gable ends and a brick stack at the center of the ridge, which has a stone verge and renewed capping. They are one and a half stories tall and each has two windows with ovolo-moulded stone mullions and wave-moulded frames, including a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window on the first floor. The windows have iron casements with glazing bars. The half-dormers are topped with gabled slate roofs and white-painted barge-boards. There are doorways at the left and right ends of the front wall, featuring moulded stone jambs and stepped stops, with 20th-century plank doors. At the rear, there are two ranges with slate roofs and stacks on the rear gables, as well as two-light and single-light mullions on the gable ends facing the street.
