Description
No. 12 Fore Street is a former Post Office that has been converted into a house. It was rebuilt in the early 19th century, although it may have an earlier core. The building features dressed stone walls with ashlar long-and-short stone quoins. It has a slate roof with boxed eaves and gable ends. There are early 20th century brick stacks located to the left of the center on the ridge and at the right-hand gable. The structure is two storeys high and has three windows, which are three-light iron casements with lead lights and wooden cills. The windows have ashlar stone lintels that are keyed. On the left side of the ground floor, there is a square window bay with a fixed window that has 28 panes and glazing bars. The door is located immediately to the left of this window and consists of a plank design with a glazed section above.
