Description

Watchman's Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 19th century, situated on the north side of The Warren, near Polperro. The exterior is constructed from painted stone rubble with a slate roof and gable ends. A brick chimney stack is situated on the right-hand gable. The windows have timber lintels. Originally, the cottage likely had a 1- or 2-room plan, with the front entrance positioned to the left. It is a two-storey building with a regular two-window front. On the ground floor are a 20th-century partly glazed door and a 19th-century 3-light casement window, both with long timber lintels. To the right is a 19th-century 1-light casement window with 15 panes. The first floor features a 20th-century cross window and a 19th-century 1-light casement window with 15 panes to the right. The right-hand gable end has a 20th-century cross window and a 2-light casement window with glazing bars above. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included on the list for its group value.
