Description
LANSALLOS THE WARREN, (south side), Polperro SX 2051-2151, 2050-2150 5 & 6/138 Slipway Cottage and Slipway directly to south 21.8.64 GV II
Probably fish store, net loft or coal shed, now cottage with slipway to south. Cottage circa early C19. Painted and rendered stone rubble with slate roof with gable ends. Plan altered internally, of single depth on steeply sloping side with 1 storey to The Warren and 2 storeys to the harbour with front wall rising from the stone rubble harbour walls. Harbour side, 2 storeys asymmetrical 5-window front with C20 casements with glazing bars. Ground floor with four 1- and 2-light casements to left plank stable type of door. Above, 2 smaller casements and 3 raking roof dormers with casement windows. Flight of steps on right-hand gable end lead up to The Warren. C20 glazed door in single storey Warren elevation. Interior not inspected. Included for group value. Stone rubble slipway on harbour side leads down from small quay between Slipway Cottage and L' Teglios Fish Cellars (qv) into harbour (qv). Early photographs of Polperro harbour illustrate the cottage as some form of store with 2 storeys and 2 openings on first floor.
