Description

Hope Cottage, L'Teglios, Pathways, and Sunny Bank are a group of four terraced cottages, likely built in the early 18th century and partially remodeled in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from rendered and painted stone rubble, topped with a slate roof featuring gable ends. A large stone rubble chimney stack is located on the lower gable end, while two rendered brick lateral chimney stacks are found on the north side facing the Warren.

These cottages are arranged in a terrace, each probably designed as a one-room plan, with entrances positioned at the higher ground level at the rear. The end cottages are heated by the gable end stack, while the two central cottages have rear lateral stacks. The buildings are set into the hillside, resulting in a three-storey elevation facing the harbour and a two-storey elevation towards the Warren.

The facade facing the harbour features a regular arrangement of six windows, with 19th-century four-pane sash windows. Above the ground floor, there are 20th-century flying buttresses. The elevation towards the Warren has no windows except for one. The main entrance to Pathways is at the higher end, accessed through a rendered porch with a lean-to slate roof and a part-glazed early 20th-century door, accompanied by a small rectangular window to the left.

To the right are the entrances to Hope Cottage and Sunny Bank, separated by a lateral chimney stack. Steps lead down to double partly glazed plank doors. Further to the right is the entrance to L'Teglios, which features a plank door with a lean-to slate roof and a two-light 19th-century casement window above. The interior has not been inspected.
