Description
Probably a fish store, now a house, dating to around the mid-19th century. It was likely converted into a house during the early to mid-20th century. The building is constructed of painted and rendered stone rubble with a 20th-century slate mansard roof with gable ends. A projecting rendered chimney stack sits on the right-hand gable end, while a larger rendered stone rubble chimney stack is located on the left-hand gable end between Sea Winds and Harbour View.
The interior plan has been altered and now comprises a single-depth, two-room wide layout. The building is built into the hillside, presenting a single-storey and attic elevation to The Warren and a two-storey and attic elevation to the harbour. The harbour-facing side has a regular two-window front with 20th-century two- and three-light casement windows with glazing bars, with two window openings on each floor. A small 20th-century balcony with metal railings sits over the harbour on the ground floor. The attic storey has window openings within the mansard roof.
The elevation to The Warren features a blocked opening on the right-hand side with circa-19th century stone rubble steps leading down. On the left is a set of steps leading to a partly-glazed 20th-century door. The interior was not inspected.
The building is included for group value as a feature of the harbour scene. Early photographs show the building as a small two-storey store with an attic window beneath a raked dormer. The roof has since been heightened, and the window openings altered.
