Description
Harbour View Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from painted and rendered stone rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends. At the rear gable end, there is a large stone rubble chimney stack with a brick shaft. The cottage has a two-room plan that is oriented at right angles to the road. It may have originally been a pair of one-room plan cottages, with one having an entrance at the lower end facing the road, while the other had a first-floor side entrance accessed by steps in the yard to the right. Alternatively, the lower end doorway might have originally led to a store with a two-room plan house above.
The cottage has a three-storey façade with a regular single window arrangement and a part-glazed 20th-century four-panel door in the centre. Above this door, there are four-pane sash windows on both the first and second floors. The ground rises at the rear, and stone rubble steps lead up to the side entrance. There is an open painted brick porch on the side that serves as the entrance to the first floor, with a four-pane sash window to the right and another above it. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value.
