Description

Way-Way Cottage is a house dating from around the mid-18th century. It is constructed from rendered and painted stone rubble and has an asbestos slate roof with a gable end facing the front. The cottage features a stone rubble chimney stack with a drip course on the front gabled end. It has a small two-room plan with direct entry into the left-hand unheated room, while the right-hand room has a gabled end stack. It is likely that this cottage was built in front of an earlier house, which was divided into two cottages at the same time, known as Hope Cove and the adjoining cottage. The building is two storeys high with the gable end facing the street. On the right side, there is a 20th-century two-light casement window without glazing bars on each floor. The front elevation includes an entrance on the left with a slate canopy and a 20th-century half-glazed door, along with a small blocked window above on the first floor. There is also a partly blocked doorway on the right that has been converted into a window with a single-light two-pane casement. The interior is not accessible.
