Description

Hillcrest is a cottage dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with slate hanging on the right-hand gable end and features a slate roof with gable ends and deep overhanging eaves. There is a rendered stone rubble chimney stack, likely serving the parlour on the left-hand gable end, and a projecting stone rubble kitchen stack on the right-hand gable end. The cottage has a two-room layout with a central cross passage, with the kitchen located on the right and a 20th-century one-room extension at the rear.

The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical two-window front, with the original 19th-century diamond-leaded glazing bars still intact. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century two-light casements set beneath dressed stone segmental arches. A 19th-century gabled stone rubble open porch with a slate roof, shaped bargeboards, and an original triangular-headed plank door in a dressed stone arch adds to its character. The first floor features 19th-century two-light casements in gabled half-dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
