Description

Nos. 105 and 106 Kenwyn Street is a corner shop and three adjoining houses, two of which have been converted into shops, dating from around the 1830s. The building features stucco on studwork, asbestos slate roofs, and brick chimneys over the cross party walls. No. 106 has cast-iron ogee gutters. The structure has a rectangular plan and is two storeys high.

No. 105, on the left, has a four-window front with terminal stucco rustications. It includes a granite plinth, a moulded round-arched doorway located to the right of the middle with a panelled door and fanlight, an early 20th-century shopfront to the left of centre, and a wide doorway at the far left. The other openings have moulded architraves and original 12-pane hornless sash windows.

No. 106 features a 19th-century corner shop on the right and a 20th-century shopfront on the left. It has a two-window front and a two-window return into Little Castle Street, with 20th-century twelve-pane horned sashes. The shopfront includes a doorway into the splayed corner with an original overlight and a three-light shop window to the left of the doorway, as well as a four-light plus two-light window in the right-hand return, all with arched lights, consoles, and a fascia to a moulded entablature. There is a round-headed doorway to the left of the shopfront with a 20th-century door and spoked fanlight.

The interiors of the shops have been altered in the 20th century and were not inspected. The building is included for its group value.
