Description
Nos. 19 and 20 River Street are a pair of townhouses that have been converted into shops with accommodation above. They were built around 1838 and feature Killas rubble with brick arches. The roof is hipped and covered with asbestos slate, and there are cast-iron ogee gutters with lions' heads at the joints. The buildings have a double-depth plan and rise three storeys high, with a three-window range on the first floor. Segmental brick arches are present over the original 16-pane hornless sash windows. The shop fronts were altered in the 20th century. The interiors have not been inspected. These buildings are included for their group value.
