Description

The Globe Public House dates to the 1830s. It is stuccoed, with a later textured finish, and has a hipped roof covered in Delabole slate. Brick chimneys rise above the cross walls and at the extreme left and right. Cast-iron ogee gutters are present. The building has a rectangular floor plan with rooms arranged around a former shallow courtyard, incorporating a carriageway entrance to the left. It is two storeys high and has a four-window front. Late 19th or 20th-century horned sash windows are set in moulded wooden architraves on the ground floor, while the first floor has taller sash windows within tall late 19th-century architraves. The ground-floor windows are relatively short, in contrast to the taller first-floor windows. A carriageway entrance is located towards the left, set in a moulded wooden architrave, and a doorway with an overlight is situated to the right, within a raised stucco architrave. The ground-floor interior has been altered in the 20th century but retains some fragments of partitions and joinery. The upper floors have not been inspected.
