Description
27 and 28 Kenwyn Street are a pair of houses built around the 1840s. They feature dressed Killas stone on the ground floor and slate hanging on studwork above, topped with an asbestos slate roof and brick chimneys over the cross party walls. Each house has a double-depth plan with one room at the front and parallel entrance halls in the center. No. 27, on the left, includes an additional chamber above the entrances. The houses are two storeys tall and have a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The doorways are closely positioned in the center. No. 27 retains its original six-panel door with a three-pane overlight and 16-pane hornless sash windows. No. 28 has its original door, which is now partly glazed, along with an overlight and late 19th-century hornless four-pane sash windows. A moulded wooden cornice separates the stone front of the ground floor from the slate hanging above. The interiors have not been inspected.
