Description
No. 64 Fore Street is a town house that has been converted into a club house. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed of granite and freestone ashlar with granite dressings, including a plinth and a first-floor sill string. The building features an asbestos slate roof with deep front eaves supported by widely spaced brackets.
The structure has a deep plan and consists of two storeys with a regular four-window range. The original windows are 12-pane hornless sashes. On the left side, there is a segmental-arched carriage entrance, while the second bay features a round-arched doorway with fluted pilasters, a Doric entablature, and panelled reveals. The original spoked fanlight remains, although the door has been removed to create an entrance porch with a 20th-century inner door. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
