Description
No. 17 Pydar Street is a town house, now used as an office, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of granite ashlar and features an asbestos slate roof that is concealed behind a parapet. The building has a double-depth plan with one room at the front and stands two storeys high with a two-window range. It has a plinth, a string course, and a moulded cornice at the parapet, topped with a blocking course. The round-arched doorway on the left is flanked by ashlar pilasters and has a moulded architrave, a moulded cornice, and a spoked fanlight above a six-panel door. The original 12-pane hornless sash windows are topped with shallow segmental arches that have projecting keyblocks. The interior has not been inspected.
