24, Fore Street

No. 24 Fore Street is a house with a shop, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The building features painted render over the first floor above the shop front, while the rest is constructed from stone rubble. It has an asbestos slate roof with a brick chimney located over the left gable end and another over the right party wall. The structure consists of a large one-room shop with two rear rooms and stands two storeys tall.

The symmetrical south street front has three windows, with 20th-century replacements for the original 16-pane sash windows and false shutters. The shopfront is slightly projecting and unequal, featuring four lights to the left of the doorway and six lights to the right. The doorway has original narrow wooden panelled flanking pilasters, and there is an additional doorway to the house on the left, which also has plain pilasters. Above the shops and doorways, there is an original fascia with a moulded cornice and a shaped bracket to the left. The doors are from the 20th century.

Inside, the interior is simple, with the left rear room featuring a stone fireplace with a cambered brick arch. Chacewater is known for the preservation of numerous 19th-century shop fronts, and this building is an interesting example.
