Description

This is a terrace of three small commercial properties with living accommodation above, built in the mid-19th century. The front is stuccoed, with an asbestos slate roof and brick chimneys rising above the party walls. The buildings have simple, single-room double-depth plans. They are arranged over two storeys, with a regular five-window facade, slightly wider spacing on the right-hand side. The first-floor windows are 19th-century four-pane hornless sash windows. The ground-floor windows to the right (number 11) are also 19th-century sash windows. All the ground-floor openings have moulded cornice hoods supported by console brackets. The left-hand property (number 9) features a mid-19th-century shop front with three elliptically arched lights and double doors on the right, with a fascia above. The central property (number 10) has a narrow shop window with elliptically arched lights and a bowed fascia. A pair of doors, beneath a single hood, serve numbers 10 and 11; the left-hand door has two round-headed panels, while the right-hand door is a 20th-century glazed door with an overlight. The interiors remain unexamined. Chacewater retains numerous 19th-century shopfronts, and these properties are good examples of this feature.
